With social media you are a fishbowl and the public is looking in. When they look in, what kind of insurance agency do they see? Do they see staff celebrating achievements? Celebrating birthdays? Recognizing clients? Providing to the community? Sponsoring events? If they see these types of things, it increases their loyalty to your agency. It’s what makes the local agency different from the Flos and Lizards out there!

Here's a blog post from Rick Morgan of Aartrijk about social networking and insurance: Social Media and A Level Playing Field.

Marty:

Thanks for the constructive criticism. Although it sound to me like you are doing the blathering here. I don't know if you noticed, but this happens to an insurance networking site and all of the content that I have provided is insurance oriented. Currently over a 100,000 Advisors have access to the tools that Financial Scenarios provides to the insurance industry, so I question your thoughts that say the members of this group do not necessarily care. In any event, Thanks for making a comment good, bad, or indifferent it promotes the message.

Yep Marty, you're absolutely right.  Social Media is about getting to know people and contributing meaning and useful content to the conversation.  Peddling products may gets eyeballs but misses the point by forgetting to build online relationships first.

This post by Louis is a classic example of what NOT to do in social media:

Blather on about your product in the wrong venue to people who don't know you or your company, and don't necessarily care.

Comments welcome.

Best, Marty

We have some great Marketing tools to help you sell Max Funded Indexed Universal Life and Tax Free Retirement programs.

With every type of content, books, brochures, proposals, etc., that we give to our prospects, the major challenge, is to get them to read it.

To better help those of you, that have access to the eBook, The Taxation Effect, get more people to read the eBook, I created this short brochure for you to share with your prospects.

The Tax Tsunami is designed to help get people to request the eBook and more importantly, talk to you: http://taxfreeretirementchoices.com/tsunami/index.html

It has an embedded video along with some other basic information in it, to help move people along.

The worst that can happen, is you have touched a prospect again, let them know who you are, and where to find you. The best case is they will call you for more information. It only costs you an email to start this a follow up phone call to seal the deal.

If you do not have the eBook, The Taxation Effect, you can download a preview at: http://thetaxationeffect.com.

Call if you have questions.

Not too long ago, I conversed with Chris Jordan regarding his video blogs for insurance tips. http://www.atlantainsurancelive.com/

I like where his head is at and recommend contacting him if you are an independent agent or part of a small to mid-sized agency interested in leveraging online consumer opinion.
